House S - Seaton Estate

Tucked into the verdant landscape of Simbithi Eco Estate, Forest House draws inspiration from its coastal forest surroundings. The design is grounded, understated, and sensitive to its setting, composed of three barn-like volumes with pitched roofs that reference rural forms. These are linked by flat-roofed connectors that allow the home to gently follow the contours of the forest floor.
Natural, tactile materials—sustainably sourced timber, raw concrete, and expansive glazing—give the home an honest, earthy character while helping it merge into the landscape. Generous windows frame views of the forest and welcome dappled light that moves across the interiors throughout the day.
The architecture invites natural airflow and warmth, while extended eaves provide shade and shelter. Every element has been considered to foster a sense of ease and stillness. With its simple forms and quiet elegance, Forest House is a contemporary refuge, deeply attuned to the rhythm of nature and the spirit of its place.
